The free campaign does have some missions that are annoying and restarting if you drew bad but it is totally free and you get boosters when you complete it the first time. Player base is small but there are bots to beat up on in both casual and rank(up to a certain rank) when queues are slow. Pros: more balanced gameplay, low powercreep in expansions, costs to craft legendaries much cheaper than most games, much more freebies like login bonuses and free crates and ads.Ĭons are that recently the developers had to reduce the value of the free currency increasing the grind time for a new player, however I think $30 will give a decent decks to play with for awhile if you don't want to grind. It is basically hearthstone in space except minus all the rng craziness that hearthstone introduced. (try seeing what two years gets you in hearthstone).

It is the only CCG where after two years of F2P due to the indie developers generosity to players, I've only spent $10 and probably at this point in my collection can finish off a full sets of all cards by spending another $50 to finish off my missing cards. Try Star Crusade CCG it is from a small indie publisher and one of the ccgs I play besides pvzh, duelyst, and hearthstone. If you were big into magic Eternal, Hex (which is more PvE), and Spellweaver might also be worth looking into. I also liked SolForge which was a little older (and has lanes like PvZ:H), but it's been kinda dying for some time now and is VERY pay to win. Haven't tried Gwent yet though apparently it's very pay friendly. Duelyst was fun, and has a little more tactical feel to it like PvZ:H, though it's been awhile since I've played it. ES:L and Shadowverse are similar to Hearthstone and a bit more pay friendly. I am a little worried though, and you're definitely right about the game being newbie unfriendly.Īs far other CCGs go, Duelyst, Gwent, Elder Scrolls: Legends, and Shadowverse seem to the big ones.

The fact there haven't been any updates also isn't odd the majority of games update and test internally, so it's possible PvZ:H has finally switched over to doing it all privately before actually patching it onto people's phones. Set 3 being divided might be so they can have less of a delay between sets 3 and 4 (though admittedly I'm not sure I'd bet on it). They've never been big on communication, and balancing has always generally taken awhile. I don't think the game is necessarily dying yet.
